Just like a book, a blog too needs to be well-crafted and targeted to its audience to get readers. To become a popular blogger you will need more than just good content.

If you have dreamt of thousands of visitors on your blog from day one, it’s time to wake up. Becoming a popular blogger requires perseverance, hard work, and innovative content regularly for years unless you are a well-known personality. So, how do you establish yourself as a blogger or popular blogger to be precise?

Well, getting people to read your blog demands additional thinking apart from writing valuable articles. Your blog needs to be optimized for search engines, error-free grammatically, attractive in the design and headline and much more. Here’s a list of essentials that can put you ahead in the race to becoming a popular blogger.

Blog Theme

Take a look at any popular blog; you will realize that although they are in diverse fields, they each contain a focus. They target a specific need of people, be it informational, news or entertainment. Your blog should have a defined theme and everything in the blog should be built around it. For example, if you start a motivational blog, the title of the blog, the photos and quotes should reflect that theme. You cannot afford to have a childish design and your bio cannot reflect a sad story. All elements of the blog, not to mention the content, should coherently inspire the reader.

Getting Shared

The only way to measure the popularity of a blog is counting the number of likes, comments and shares it can generate from readers. In other words, how engaging the blog is. But what’s the key to writing blog posts that get read and shared?

There are actually four keys to success

1.Quality content: A good quality content with valuable information gains top priority in the list.

2.Word limit: Don’t limit yourself, but don’t drag yourself either. No more than 1,000 words. Ideal range is 500-800 words for in-depth posts. 300-500 for shorter posts.

3.Image: It’s always preferable to include a relevant image in your blog post. Readers like to be captivated with the photo as well.

4.Call to action: The blog should push the reader toward a single call to action in the end. Either to answer a question or share the blog. Not to mention, engaging for visitors should be made friendly and accessible.

Magnetic Headlines

While creating a headline, remember that it should be crisp, appealing and offer value to the reader. A good headline is similar to a front office of a company – well equipped to engage customers. It’s critical because when your blog will be shared in social media, only the headline will be visible and that should be enough to provoke the reader to hit like, comment or share.

 Charismatic Content  

Content is the final product, everything else on the blog is an accessory. Your blog should add value and live up to the promise of the headline. It should be comprehensive, filled with relevant information and push the reader to engage in a discussion or share. The grammar, persuasive literature, and your personal opinion should be inserted subtly into the story. A fine element of humor would be an added benefit to make the content light, but only if it suits the context.

Apart from great writing, the text should also be optimized according to SEO. Proper keyword, Meta tags, and readability should be taken care of. As an author, you need to know only the basis of SEO, so that whatever you write can be easily searched by the engine. Details beyond that may not pertain to you.
