Lucas Hault is the author of THE SHADOW OF DEATH – THE CONQUERING DARKNESS. The dark thriller is gaining popularity with its expert handling of various dark themes. Let’s find out the author has to say about his journey, his inspiration and some spilled secret tips for upcoming authors. 

Tell us something about your book SHADOW OF DEATH.

My Book, THE SHADOW OF DEATH – THE CONQUERING DARKNESS is a dark fantasy thriller.

It deals with a lot of emotions like fear, agitation, love, anxiety, betrayal and consecutive heartbreaks. But one thing that I believe will hook the readers is suspense.

It will take you to certain ups and downs, and end up at a point that might not even be the truth. This is what I call an end – a virtual ending that is far too beyond from over.

It won’t be true if I say my work is an exceptional piece of art, but I assure you that it is one of the rare fantasies which won’t be easy to swallow.

Why did you choose such a dark theme?

I’ve been flooded with this question, and it really makes me choke out with laughter. (Laughs)

To be very honest, I have always been obsessed with dark fantasy. There are so many aspects and concepts in this genre that has always attracted my attention.

The one real thing that inspired me to work on this dark theme was Frankenstein by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, and Dracula by Bram Stoker.

For me, these two are the fragments of such brilliant art that it makes it much more precious than any treasure of this world. I still remember the chills I had while reading these books.

The other thing that inspired me to work on my dark fantasy project was the excellent autobiography of Adolf Hitler. I mean it is something that deserves much more than being hidden behind ragged pages. It is something that the world needs to know, and so comes in the book which deals with that bygone era.

What are your plans for your next book?

It is quite apparent that you need to plan the future or at least set up your working plans. I am a die-hard fan of J.K. Rowling, and so I believe in proper planning.

Talking about my forthcoming project, I am almost done with the second volume of the series, though I warn you of its consequences in advance. (Laughs)

And there is yet another project that shall proceed The Shadow of Death series which deals with the medieval times. But that is some time away, and presently my only focus is over the completion of my dark fantasy series.

What will be your piece of advice to aspiring authors?

There is just one basic formula for every aspiring as well as professional writers that have been repeated for ages. READ READ READ… WRITE WRITE WRITE.

The more you read, the more you learn. Learning never stops, not even during our last days. Every aspect of life teaches us a lesson.

Speaking of the first time writers, I would personally suggest them to go with the classic literature. Trust me it is the best way to bring out the writer in you. Classic literature is the priceless gems that have been preserved for ages, only for us to use it fruitfully. There are legends like Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie, J.R.R. Tolkein, among the others who have a measureless contribution in the writing universe.

Read any of the books that interest you; though I personally guarantee that you can’t leave out a single. Read them carefully, and you will see the change yourselves.
